The following is a brief description of completed projects:
  • Sidewalk construction has resulted in the completion of 9,763 linear feet of sidewalks located along one side of major collector streets within Pine Manor. Sidewalks benefit area residents through improved pedestrian safety especially for school aged children. In addition, the sidewalks serve as a catalyst for improved community appearance and neighborhood pride as well as a stimulus for housing renovation within the affected areas.
  • Storm water drainage facilities have been constructed in conjunction with sidewalks in order to improve storm water runoff within the area.
  • A mini-park and two (2) bus shelters were constructed along the Lee Tran route in Pine Manor. The result was an improvement in community appearance and easy and convenience in using the County's public bus system.
  • Playground equipment was installed in Hunter Park in Pine Manor to replace unsafe and worn-out equipment. The playground equipment is located near an existing shelter and picnic area which is used by neighborhood residents living within a higher density residential neighborhood with a large proportion of younger children.
  • Affordable housing activities within Pine Manor resulted in the acquisition of a duplex that has been renovated and converted into a single-family dwelling. The unit was sold as owner occupied housing. The Pine Manor affordable housing program is designed to improve the existing housing stock by renovating existing structures and benefits the occupants of the structure by increasing their ability to obtain affordable housing.
The Lee County Division of Code Enforcement provides technical assistance within Pine Manor. The purpose of the project is to reduce the physical decline of the neighborhood, improve the visual appearance of the area and reduce the opportunities for crime by removing potential hiding places used to conceal criminal activities. Project activities include enforcement of residential garbage pick-up, prevention of trash accumulation along public streets and removal of inoperative vehicles.
  • Neighborhood Building Program activities are intended in part to determine the nature and extent of existing social service needs within Pine Manor. The results of a neighborhood survey will be utilized to prepare an action plan for the delivery of needed social services within the community which will be coordinated with the overall neighborhood plans for the physical improvement of the area.
