When opening and/or downloading maps please keep in mind that most are .pdf files designed to print poster size ("zooming in" is encouraged) therefore they are very large in file size. When printing maps found within this section please keep in mind that because they were designed to print poster size, a standard 8.5"x11" printed page may not be useful.
Youth Crime, Restorative Justice and GIS - Part II
This paper and its maps presents analysis of youth crime and youth crime responses by the Department of Human Services and its partners from the Juvenile Assessment Council. The 2007 Phase studied trend data on the effectiveness of programs responding to youth crime, the relationship between crime locations in residential zones and the offender home addresses, and geographic coordination of agency jurisdictions.
Operation "Blue Roof 2004"
After Hurricane Charley made landfall in August of 2004 there was a large-scale, immediate demand for plastic tarps in order to prevent further exposure to the elements and protect residents from further damage to health and property. GIS enabled us to visually match temporary need to resources.
Long-Term Recovery
To date, recovery is still an ongoing reality for hundreds of Lee County residents and the DHS Long-Term Recovery group. This GIS project has been active since September of 2004 and remains to support the day to day recovery operations that continue.
