| HOPWA is a Federally-funded program designed to prevent people with AIDS from becoming homeless or to assist them to secure stable housing. The goal is by maintaining stable housing, clients will be more likely to be productive in their communities, and be medication complaint related to HIV. |
- Eligibility - At least one member of the household must provide proof of a Symptomatic HIV or AIDS diagnosis and the total household income cannot exceed 80% of the area median income, currently $48,400 per year.
- Case Management - HOPWA is not an entitlement program. Applicants' needs are assessed and a plan of care is developed to achieve certain goals within the program year. Applicants must apply for each month of financial assistance requested and the need for assistance must be HIV-related.
- Benefits - Households may receive financial assistance with Transitional Housing, Rent, Mortgage, and Utilities.
