This program is funded by Lee County Ad Valorem tax dollars and/or Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds. Certain residency, age, citizenship, and income requirements may apply to the Ad Valorem funding. Click here for more information.
Assistance is not in the form of cash but rather payments to vendors such as utility companies or landlords. Due to funding cycles, all programs are not necessarily in effect at any given time. Eligibility requirements may vary depending on the program. Please call in advance to make sure funding is available and that you meet the eligibility criteria.
If any member of the household is HIV+, also see HOPWA for assistance with rent, mortgage or utilities. |
- FIRST MONTH'S RENT - The individual or household must be homeless, imminently homeless, or by moving, the household will be improving their financial situation and/or standard of living. Situations which might qualify the household for this program would be; living in a shelter or transitional housing and has secured employment; 24-hour notice of eviction; fleeing an abusive situation; acceptance into a low-income housing community; approval for a Section Eight housing certificate or voucher; living with a relative who is about to be evicted if the applicant does not leave the household; household disaster which results in current living situation being uninhabitable.
Currently the maximum benefit is $700.00. This could be a combination of emergency shelter and first month's rent.
Human Services does not rent or provide housing. Applicants are responsible for securing their own housing arrangements. We do have a list of low-income housing providers with which to start.
Other programs not funded by county tax dollars may be in effect to provide assistance to homeless families or individuals. Click here for more information. |
